what's in my head: ephemera
- tried fiddleheads for the first time last night. verdict? meh. seriously, seriously meh. they had no discernible flavour of their own and I was terribly disappointed. I sauteed them with shiitakes and wild leeks.

- trying to figure out which vegetables to plant, since our soil doesn't seem to be as contaminated with batteries as I had thought
- after reading this, I want to plant Giant Japanese Red Mustard
- wondering if I could pick up a soil testing kit locally for not much money (grassroots? MEC?)
